Preparing an export mission that truly pays off
May 12, 2026 · CBCI
An improvised export mission is expensive and yields little. A well-prepared mission, on the other hand, turns a trip into a commercial pipeline. The difference comes down to a few simple principles.
Target before you leave
The first mistake is setting off just to “see how it goes.” A region has its own specifics: regulations, standards, commercial practices, distribution channels. You first select the markets where your offering holds a real advantage, then qualify a list of prospects and prescribers.
Book meetings in advance
A schedule filled before departure changes everything. Meetings are set weeks ahead, in the client’s language, with a message tailored to each contact. This is exactly what our outsourced export service does: prospecting on your behalf so that you arrive with a packed programme.
Measure and follow up
A mission does not end when the return flight lands. Following up on contacts, sending offers and detailed reporting determine the conversion rate. Without structured follow-up, 80% of the potential evaporates.
